Karl has been involved in the health & fitness Industry since 2015, in which time he has worked with a wide variety of clients, in a broad range of gym and sporting contexts. To further his knowledge as a personal trainer he went on to complete an MSc in Sport and Exercise Sciences with a focus on Strength, Conditioning and Rehabilitation.
As a NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine) Corrective Exercise Specialist, this provides Karl with the skills to assess posture and movement, in view of providing effective training plans to address and correct imbalances or dysfunctions observed.
He is a highly experienced Soft Tissue Therapist, having worked in a number of private healthcare clinics. He utilises a broad range of therapy skillsets and tools in delivering assessment, treatment and recommendations for his clients’ individual needs.
Therapies delivered include Soft Tissue Therapy, Sports Massage, Myofascial Dry Cupping, IASTM, Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (rESWT), Dry Needling and Kinesio Taping.
Karl has also worked at the University of Sunderland as an Academic Tutor for the Sport and Exercise Science department, gaining accreditation with Advance HE as an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA). From here, he went on to teach Sport and Exercise Science, Personal Training and Sports Massage in Further Education (FE) and private vocational training settings.
Personally Karl is highly active, an active member of the CrossFit Blaydon community and is currently studying for an MSc in Physiotherapy at Teesside University.
